Bippity boppity boo
I want to show you all the atrocious state of my room, but it's so messy that I can't find my camera battery charger. Whoops.

After casting my first official vote in a presidential election, I drove my gas-guzzler down to Atlanta in the rain. The day consisted mostly of a) getting lost in places I should be familiar with and b) impulse purchasing. Still no sign of the coveted snow boots, but I did score a vintage St. Thomas Island tee with drawing of Neptune and mermaids, cashmere leg warmers, and plenty of vintage necklaces, among other things. Now if only I could figure out what is wrong with my sewing machine and start finishing these projects sitting around the room! Wheee! I can't wait to be back in Japan surrounded by so much creativity in clothing.

Both of the professors I asked to recommend me for the JET program have agreed now. Dr, Williams asked me to write out a list of ten concrete, measurable goals (long and short-term) that I want to accomplish in Japan. I am somewhat stumped as to how to list my goals in measurable format.

My super-fantastic boyfriend Mark was selected for an all-expenses-paid trip to Germany to interview with this company he'd like to work for! While I will be sad to lose his company for a week, I am really excited for him! <3<3<3

Heh, I've been looking for the charger for three days now!

The snow boots I would kill for are right here: SNOWBOOTS!

I had some when I was a kid. This pair is a size seven and it fits (prolly because its for wearing with big socks), but I usually wear a 7 1/2 or 8. I want these so bad though that size is negotiable!

i'd like to do the Jet too :°°° it seems cool.
i have a question: since here in italy everyone says that every american hates bush, and no one would have ever re-voted for him, and since i heard on the radio this morning that he is actually the winner of these elections, my question is: is it real that everyone hates bush this much? it all sounds like a joke here O_O

It's funny you bring that up. That is actually my biggest concern in all of this. I figured people would give us the benefit of the doubt if we swiftly and decisively elect Bush out of office. But if he does in fact get reelected, it will appear to the world that we condone and agree with what he is doing. Sadly, the fact is, our media is in a sorry state, and they simply accept what the government provides them in press releases, etc. and report it as fact, doing little to no fact checking on it. And there's a large portion of American society who is well off enough that they are in a position where they have no need, or really even a desire, to question what the media hands them. I had faith that most would see through the charade, see past Bush's lies, and realize what has really been going on. But the way the election results are looking, it seems my faith in humanity was misplaced.

I think there is a disturbingly large amount of the population that has actually fallen for the disinformation the Bush administration has been handing out; they truly believe that Iraq had something to do with the 9/11 attacks, and that the Iraqis are welcoming us with open arms and laurel wreaths. Once they've allowed themselves to be convinced of that, it's not hard to see why they would be so proud of Bush for being a good, strong leader, never swaying from his course even in the face of the vilest evidence of his incorrectness.

Also, keep in mind that we have such low voter turnout that the 50% of the voters that support Bush really only represent about 25% of the actual American population. Not that that's a very good excuse, though.

I am absolutely stunned at how freakin close this race is. There are going to be court battles it seems. I'm really ashamed at the low voter turnout among young voters. All these Bush-haters should have VOTED.

Ok, here is the truth of the matter: this is the closest presidential race we've ever had. The country is very divided about Bush, but about half of the country thinks he's great. The other half (like me) want him GONE! There are alot of Americans that hate Bush, but there are alot that want him re-elected too. But there is no winner yet. The election was so close that I think Congress will have to choose a president.

I'm afraid if Bush gets re-elected, every other country will think that Americans are even stupider. :)

yeah, maybe that's what will happen. it's such a shame that only 50% of electors give their votes! what seems strange here, is that most of the people think americans want bush to go. especially after farenheit 9/11 :/

I think more that half of the country dislikes Bush. But not that many people turned out to vote. Especially young people, who tend to dislike Bush more. I'm pretty ashamed that only 10% of the voters were young. It's sad that people can't even be bothered to go vote.

People in Italy watched Farenheit 9/11?? :) Good!

Yeah, but since Bush freaked out and started "hunting down terrorists", alot of Americans think Bush is a good president who is protecting them. The others think Bush is actually making things worse by attacking everyone. Which he is. But... the people have spoken, and Bush is here for four more years. Apparently most people in America are looking to the Republican party to take a "strong stance against terrorism". Thus of us who aren't have four more years to convince the others of our point of view!

I was really surprised at the 'results' of the election. I haven't decided just yet what emotion I should be experiencing right now. I did my part, so I guess I'll just have to support the majority's decision and hope things will get better.

I'm so guilty of impulse buying. It's fun though, isn't it?

Good luck with the JET program!

I'm resigned to another four years. The democracy has spoken.

Impulse buying IS fun. Unfortunately, it's also a problem if you are like me and have credit cards. I'm currently working to pay off about $20,000 in card debt on minimum-wage pay. Not an easy task, even on a debt management program. But it's my own damn fault! What is your impulse weakness?

umm...I don't think my impulses are quite like that. Tomorrow I'm going to get my new PS2 and a game. I buy $20 things here and there a lot; I don't buy cars as an impulse.

Maybe you should work retail instead of MoJo's. Retail pays more. ;)

Maybe your new impulse spending should be spent on DDR...it's cheaper and still tons of fun! :)

Retail doesn't pay more. I've done it. Serving and MoeJoe both pay alot more per hour than any retail job I've worked. Tips tips tips, my friend.

Hey... are your impulses leading you in the direction of MGS3???? *hope*

Read my zillion new posts for tonight for more on the election.

Humm, I didn't think MoeJoe would be a great place for tips, but sounds like it's working good for ya.

humm...MGS3...I was really disappointed in MGS2 so I have my doubts on 3. I'll at least borrow it from a friend or rent it or something and possibly buy it. We'll see.
